After a crash on the parkway, Clara Reyes opens her eyes at Fairview General with eight months gone. The patient stranger at her bedside says his name is Nathaniel and that they married in April, in her mother's backyard, in the rain. He knows her coffee order, her apartment, her cat and the one word she cannot stand. Her best friend swears the wedding was real, and admits it all moved very fast. With no memory to check anything against, Clara has to decide whether to trust a man who has already told her one story that does not match his scar. Then she finds a drawer of notes in her own handwriting, and this is not the first time.
